Family News Christmas is my favorite time of year, no question. I love the lights and the decorations. I love cooking the big meal, and having everyone enjoy it. I love the wondering and excitement about the gifts, but most of all I love shopping for gifts for other people.
This year I’ve been hard put to think of things that I want to get for the girls, but after months of pondering and considering, I think I’ve finally got some pretty good ideas of what to get them. I certainly hope they like these things, but then I know they will, as they love getting stuff, no matter what it is. Don’t be fooled though, they love giving stuff too!! This year they had saved up their own money to spend on Christmas gifts for everyone, and had a great time doing their own shopping.

Family News Life has been busy lately, of course it seems that it’s been busy for months and months. *LOL* What happened to my quiet, uneventful, stay at home life?? I guess it all started with working at Bubble’s, and then it was softball, and then swimming lessons, and now it’s soccer. After soccer will be dance, and maybe basketball, and that takes us back into softball season.
I don’t mind the girls participating in all these activities…I love watching with them, and practicing with them…I love that they are so active, and enjoy doing sports. I love that Dad and I can give them these opportunities…It just gets kind of hetic sometimes.
Anyway, I had to stop by here and take care of a couple of work entries, and wanted to do an update here, but it’s time for me to move along, as there is some other work to do. I’m running a bit behind this week, so I’m trying to play catch up…

Family News In the last year I’ve gone from 2 cats to 8….Don’t ask me how this has happened, because I just don’t know really. I love cats, but I said 4 was my limit, and then I said 6 was my limit, and now, well, now I have 8….It’s ridiculous I know, but I really can’t see parting with any of them.
My original 2 are Orangey and Yeti. They are brother and sister, that I got when they were young kittens. Orangey broke his leg as a kitten, and Yeti was born with a hip problem, but she has pretty much out-grown the problem. I’ve had them for about 5 years now, and well, they will live out their lives with me.
Next came Sam and Kit Kat. These were kittens that the girls picked out. I don’t have any real attachment to these cats, as their personalities just didn’t click with me. However they are decent cats who generally mind their manners, and I don’t want to give the girls the idea that it’s okay to get an animal when it’s cute and cuddly, and then get rid of it when it grows up.
Next came Shadow and Sissy. They were manx cats that I adopted from a shelter. They had been their quite a long time, because they were about 7 years old. Sissy was only able to live here acouple of months, because she died of liver disease. I am happy to know that the last months of her life were filled with love and care, it makes her passing a bit easier on my heart. Shadow is still here, the love of my kitty kingdom. *LOL*
Next came Tai Chi. A 9 month old orange manx when he came to me. The owners didn’t want him anymore, and were going to take him to a shelter.
Next came Gimpy. I saw a poster of him at my Vet center. He has deformed front legs. He is about a year old now. I’ve only had him for about a month. The owners were moving and desperately trying to find him a good home. No one else wanted him, because of his disability….So home he came…..
Now our latest addition of Malfoy came to us only a few days ago. The girls found him outside stuck in a fence. Flea infested and starving. What could we do?? *LOL* He now lives a quiet and comfortable life with us. He is a sweet, loveable boy. Only a few months old. He will be taking a trip to the Vet next week or perhaps the week after to be neutered.
And that my friends is my big happy cat family. No more please!!!

Family News Okay, well I have completed the work for two of my blogs, so I’m going to take a break and spend some time working on the quilt I’m doing for Des. I only have 2 more hearts to complete on that block, and then I can do a block for Megan’s quilt. I decided that I would do a block for Des, and then a block for Meg so that both quilts get done at about the same time. It also helps me from getting bored working on the same design and same colors all the time. So off I go.

Family News As I have once again embarked on the homeschooling journey I find myself open to different curriculums. I suppose that is one of the ways I have grown. Some of the stuff I’ve found isn’t for us, of that I’m sure, but other things, well, they just look soooooo awesome!!!!
I was lead to another curriculum today. It’s for charactor studies, like honesty, thriftiness, and their list goes on and on. It just looks too cool for words!!! I have no plans at this time to order it, but it is definitely bookmarked for future reference.
I have also found a state history study that I’m looking at for next year, and also a new spelling program that caught my interest. The state history would be in addition to the curric I’m currently using for history, but the spelling would be instead of what I’m using now.

Family News It’s hard to believe that my birthday is just over a week away. I hadn’t realized that it loomed so close.
I really don’t have any plans. Although I think we will go out to dinner that night, and there is a softball game for the older girls in town that night. I thought it’d be fun to go and watch them. Other than that, well, in all likelyhood my birthday will be a quiet day, spent with my girls.

Family News I had briefly interacted with one of the Mother’s to a girl on the softball team, and found I enjoyed our brief visits. At Meg’s birthday party we had time to get to know each other better, and I really enjoyed visiting with her. She homeschools her 3 girls, and really seems down to earth and not snobby like so many of the other women around here. Of course it could be that she’s an outsider here like me. My girls love hanging out with her girls, and it was sooooo nice to talk to another homeschooler!!!
I do hope as the summer passes that we will be able to visit more frequently, and futher our budding friendship!!

Family News Today marks the 10th birthday of my youngest daughter. It’s hard to imagine her being 10 years old. Wasn’t it just yesterday that I could hold her tiny body with one arm?
My miracle baby. A doctor had told me that I couldn’t get pregnant again, because of some medical problems I had a few months after Des was born. Oh how wrong that Dr. was. *LOL* I’ve never been sorry that she came as a suprise.
I remember so much about her younger years. Such a quiet happy baby she was. *LOL* Not at all like my fussy Des. Although she was such a quiet baby, today she is quite the opposite. *LOL* Non stop chattering now. I will admit sometimes I would like some quiet, but on the rare occasions that the house is quiet, I miss her chattering.
In any case, I must move along, as today is her special day, so I’m trying to hurry through my work so that I can spend my time with her and Des.

Family News What do you do when someone is constantly calling, texting, and asking to come over?? It’s really gotten to the point of annoying me!!
A few weeks ago we renewed our aquaintence with each other, after years of not seeing or talking to each other. Anyway, he came over an hung out acouple of days, and now it’s like non stop bugging.
I don’t feel anything there…ya know…He’s an okay guy, but that’s it, in my opinion. He said he’d do something, and then he didn’t, so he really let me down. Plus he acts like he knows all there is to know about a certain subject when it’s quite apparent that he doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does. Plus I really cherish my time with the girls. They are my life, and I feel intruded upon when someone is always wanting to be here too…
I guess I’ve just been single too long…

Family News Yesterday was just a great day. We went up to see my Mom in Council Grove. We hadn’t seen her since Dizzy’s birthday, so it had been quite a long time ago.
It’s kind of a long trip, as it takes about 2 hours to get there, but the girls entertained themselves by doing some schoolwork. After we got there we got to sit and visit for awhile. The girls had a lot of fun with the baby that Mom babysits for, and they had a lot of fun with my brother’s puppy. *LOL* The puppy is a 2 year old Mastiff. Des was thrilled, as she hadn’t seen a mastiff in real life.
Went out to eat for dinner, the girls went to the park with my brother. All in all it was a fantastic day!! We didn’t want to come home last night, but alas the horse needed fed and the dog had to go out, so staying wasn’t an option.
